Great runs. How did you teach you dogs rear crosses? They really respond nicely to them. Diana

Hi Diana,
I start out teaching crosses on the flat when the dog is a puppy. For the rear cross, while walking with the pup by my side, I'll take a step laterally into my dog and use a treat to lure him into a 90 degree turn away from me. Eventually, I put it on a verbal cue (Switch). When I'm jogging circles on the flat with the young dog, I incorporate both crosses (fronts and rears). Front cross is cued by lateral motion (a step) away from the dog, rear cross is cued by lateral motion into the dog (and you finish the rear cross by completely stepping behind and changing sides).
By the time the dog is old enough to begin sequencing jumps, they already know the turning cues. When I'm running a course, I support the jump with an inside arm while at the same time, I am moving laterally into my dog and will also give the verbal cue "switch" (for Summit. Not Sage). Sage responds to the lateral motion only.

Oh my gosh, great vids. So glad you both ok and glad I am not alone in the unique but growing class of us who have done a blooper move. Sage is so sweet, with how she comes and checks your ok. Thanks for sharing.
